Considered the Centre of the World, Mitad del Mundo is in Ecuador and it is where the equator line can be crossed.

According to numerous studies, it was established at the beginning of the 1700’s by Charles Marie de la Condamine, and at the end of the 18th century it was verified by the mission led by general Charles Perrier, sent by the French Scientific Academy.
