One of the less conventional towns situated on the Cote d’Azur, Saint Tropez has a reputation as a place favoured especially by fashion models, artists and millionaires. It is known as the place where the famous French actress Brigitte Bardot was discovered.

The town played an important part in the liberation of the South of France, during World War II.
