Santa Claus is children’s most beloved character. His massive figure, jovial expression, long snow-white beard and red outfit are instantly recognized by any child in a Western country. Santa has had this fun look since the 19th century, when he was composed by cartoonist Thomas Nast.
According to tradition, Santa lives at the North Pole, in the neverland of snow, with Mrs Santa and his magic elves and reindeers. Sitting on the Arctic Circle, in Lapland, Santa’s home is filled with warmth and cheer, the aroma of gingerbread and cinnamon. Santa and his lady are always happy to receive guests in their secret hut in the midst of the snowy forest.
Santa’s village, where he has his official office, is exactly on the Arctic Circle – which is a blue electric line in the air, as the soil is covered in snow. Santa works in his office all year round. He prepares the letters and gifts for all the children of the world, assisted by his clever elves, who work in the toy factory tirelessly. All gifts are delivered by Santa himself, who leaves on Christmas Eve in a gift-ladden sleigh, pulled by his flying reindeers.
Santa has his own post office in his village, where he receives all the letters children send every year, and from where he himself sends letters and cards to children all over the world.
