Situated in Germany, Frankfurt is one of the three European cities whose architecture includes skyscrapers. It boasts the highest building in Europe, and it is also home to the European Central Bank.
Frankfurt is one of the world’s most important financial centres, and the venue of the world-famed international fair Messe Frankfurt, the most important in Europe and one of the most important in the world. The fair is first mentioned in a historical document in 1150, and its importance is confirmed as early as 1240, when emperor Frederic II issued a dictum by which he ensured imperial protection to participants in the Frankfurt fair.
