NEW YORK is a UNESCO world heritage site, for its historical monuments (Statue of Liberty).
Situated on the East coast of the United States, New York is the city with the greatest ethnic and linguistic diversity in the world. It is also emblematic for 20th century birth of skyscrapers in modern architecture. It is the world’s financial capital, home to the headquarters of the United Nations and former capital of the United States (for just a short while, between 1785-1790).
Founded in 1642 by the Dutch, the city was initially called New Amsterdam, until it was given over to the British, in 1664.
New York is one of the most brilliant cities in the world, and probably also the most famous.
