NUREMBERG (Germany) was an early centre of culture and science, especially astronomy, printing and mechanical inventions.
Nuremberg was one of the three most important cities of the Holy Roman Empire and the unofficial capital of the empire (as the Imperial Diets of Nuremberg took place at different times, starting with the 13th century) and the centre of the German Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Nuremberg is famous for its beautiful medieval city centre, with the Imperial Castle and the city walls considered to be one of Europe's most amazing medieval fortifications, with unique gothic monuments and churches, like Frauenkirche ("Church of Our Lady"), Lorenzkirche (St. Laurence Church), Schöner Brunnen (Beautiful Fountain).
