A masterpiece of ancient Egyptian civilization, Zoser’s step pyramid is the world’s first monument built in carved stone.
It is the oldest known pyramid. Dating from the time of the 3rd Dynasty, it was built between 2668 - 2649 BC and it was designed by Imhotep, the first recorded genius in the history of humankind. A vizier and architect of pharaoh Zoser, Imhotep was deified after his death.
