Zurich is listed as the city with the highest quality of life in the world (close by Geneve and Vienna) as well as the wealthiest city in the world.

It is the largest city of Switzerland and one of the world’s greatest financial centres, with an impressive number of banks and financial institutions.

The town is also considered Switzerland’s cultural capital, with its numerous museums and art galleries, as well as one of the most important German-language theatres in Europe. Zurich is where the famous Codex Manesse manuscript was made at the beginning of the 14th century. Currently in Heidelberg, the Codex is considered the most beautiful German manuscript. Among Zurich’s museums, the Art Museum is home to one of the world’s largest collections of modern classic art. Other important museums are Le Corbusier, in the famous building made by the Swiss architect Le Corbusier, as well as Uhrenmuseum, dedicated to the history of the mechanical watch, for which the Swiss are world-renowned.

The town’s old part is situated on the banks of the Limmat river. With its churches from 800, an array of old buildings and the famous Bahnhofstrasse and Lindenhof –the historical site of the Roman Castle and the later Carolingian Palace , the old town is certainly the main attraction. St. Peter Church in the old city is known for its largest church clock face in the world.
